The Closing Ceremony of the first football tournament, PRIDE-ASTER NCR CHALLENGE 2016, U-17 which was organized by Aster Public School in a tie-up with Pride Sports Academy, one of the premier organization in the country since 2012, took place on the 4th of August at Aster Public School, Greater Noida with the aim to develop football among the new generation. The programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp and felicitation of the Chief Guest, Mr. Rajesh Yadav, ADM (G. B. Nagar). School CMD, Mr. V. K. Sharma and the Directors, Mr. Siddhartha Sharma and Mr. Vaibhav Sharma, Mrs Asha Sharma, School Academic Advisor Mr, S. P. Singh graced the event with their presence. Also present on the occasion were the School Principal, Mr. Sunil Saxena, Vice Principal, Ms. Preeti Sharma, Operation Manager Sonia Satyawan and all the staff members as well as the students who proved to be a great audience.
The tournament was an exciting 12 days event which commenced on 23rd July. It consisted of two pools. Pool A comprised of 10 teams and each team played 9 matches whereas Pool B comprised of 7 teams and 6 matches were played by each team. Teams from prestigious and renowned schools of Greater Noida namely Aster Public School, Appejay School, Army Public School, DPS, Ryan International, Somerville, Greater Valley, Ascent, Pragyan, St, Joseph and of Noida namely Global Genesis, Amity International, Lotus Valley, Father Agnel, JBM Global, Step by Step, Modern School, Apeejay School, DPS, Ryan International, Khaitan Public School and Ryan International School, Ghaziabad participated and showcased their talent. All the players put in tremendous hard work and displayed a high level of zeal and energy.
Having given a tough time to the other competitive teams, the host school, Aster Public School, Gr. Noida, St, Joseph School, Gr. Noida, Ryan International School, Ghaziabad and Army Public School, Noida reached the Semi-Finals and made their school proud. After which Aster Public School and Army Public School made it to the finals. The final match exhibited good football from both the teams with trophy falling into the lap of the host school, Aster Public School.
The Chief Guest Mr. Rajesh Yadav and the School CMD Mr. V. K. Sharma did the honour of awarding the prizes to the proud winners. The winning team was awarded with a cash prize of 75,000 and the trophy whereas the first and second runner-up teams were given a cash prize of 25,000 and 10,000 respectively along with the trophies. It was indeed a memorable moment for Keshav Mishra of Army Public School when he was declared the Best Player of the tournament. Vishal Tiwari of Aster Public School bagged the Best Goalkeeper Trophy and the Fair Play Trophy went to DPS, Noida.
Mr. Rajesh Yadav expressed his immense pleasure by greatly appreciating all the participating teams and motivated all the players to achieve greater heights and success. Mr. V. K. Sharma highly lauded the efforts put by one and all and congratulated the winners on their victory. He also expressed his happiness on the note that the School is also providing with state- of – the – art facilities and residential facility for the school team players. The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the School Principal Mr. Sunil Saxena and the singing of national anthem.
